Wednesday, 20 April 2011 13:11
Sentient has welcomed two new full-time staff in recent weeks – both of whom will beworking on the company’s 3D models.
Clinton Ellard and Chay Johansson are 3D animation students from Murdoch University.

Clinton said it was great to be working in an area he is so passionate about. “I’m really enjoying the creative process and watching the work develop,” he said.

Clinton and Chay’s work at Sentient will be focused on 3D modelling and texturing models for use in projects for mining and industrial clients.

“Our job is to make the software look as realistic and easily identifiable as possible. I enjoy the whole process of art and computer games and this work combines those two elements,” Clinton said.

“It’s amazing to see the way game engine Unity can be used to show data in 3Dinteractive environments.

Clinton also said it was exciting to be working in an area which has so much potential for the future. “The idea that gaming engines can be used for business applications like this is really innovative and I think it has a lot of potential,” he said.

“Technology like this allows businesses to be more productive and efficient. It will be really exciting to see how the software gets used in the future.”
Work force expands at Sentient, from left to right, Clinton Ellard and Chay Johansson join Jarred McQualter in Sentient's 3D design and animation team.
