Paul Turbett joins Sentient as MVX Technical Manager

We are excited to announce that Paul Turbett has joined the team as Sentient's full time MVX Technical Manager. Paul will be working with Sentient's 3D designers to develop client projects and MVX improvements.

"I've been writing computer software since the late-80s. Much of my background is in game development. I'm interested in high performance, real-time graphics that look awesome and software that is a joy to use."

Paul has previously lent his technical expertise to companies including Interzone Games, Spinfast, Subversive Games, and Different Methods among others. He has successfully developed and released an iPad application and had a hand in creating an educational iPad app for kids. His prior roles span across all aspects of software development - from Tools Development Manager to Lead Programmer, .NET developer, Project Manager, and more. His technical knowledge and skill make Paul an invaluable addition to the Sentient team.

Paul is also experienced with business software development and project/team management and has a black 8 year old Labrador named Toby. He is awesome. The Labrador. But also Paul.

MV UserGroup 2009

The 2009 Sentient Users Group saw almost 40 users and 13 presentations in our most successful users group yet, an interactive tech workshop showcasing new technologies was followed by an intense round of Supa Golf expertly won by Wayne Peel, congrats Wayne!


User Group 2009

Adrian Warber from Iluka began the presentations, on how the new PLC Data Distributer improved the update rate on SquareD PLCs. Followed by a presentation by Mark Ollerman from VRT systems on innovative system redundancy using virtual machines.

Apolon Ivankovic debuted MacroView Version 5 to the usergroup, followed by Jonathan Ellery presenting iMV, the MacroView iPhone application. Doug Bester and Jarred McQualter unveiled MacroView eXtreme in its first ever public showing. After lunch, Brian McCully from CSBP talked about the cost savings CSBP has achieved using the MacroView Web Scraper. Paul Thornberry showed us the J5 OMS logbook system Sentient is supporting in Australia for a South African developer.

Geoff Fitchett from CSBP explained how the despatch loading system at CSBP has been improved using tough books and wireless technology. Patrick Laitt, from Milne AgriGroup, detailed how to get SQL data into MacroView. Simon Orton from CSBP continued the presentations by telling us how CSBP uses MacroView technology for Gause issues at the Sodium Cyanide Plant. Anthony Watts, from Hawkerwatts, then demonstrated a Batching System to the users group. Doug then presented on MacroView Version 4 system at Granulation Plant. The final presentation was by Dave Andrews from Loy Yang demonstrating GPS Grade control.

The User Group was closed by Chris Busby from the FMG group, Sentient would like to thank everyone who attended the users group, with a special thanks to those who presented!

A Tech Workshop was held the following day, with 20 participants from the users group attending an interactive demonstration of new MacroView technologies.
